
Dr Sean LEssard
Dr. Sean Lessard is from Montreal Lake Cree Nation in Treaty 6 territory and is an award-winning international writer, researcher, and speaker. He is a Professor at the University of Alberta, with a focus on teacher education and Indigenous youth wellness.
He has designed innovative programs in schools across Canada that support youth through academics, the arts, sport, and wellness-focused approaches. His current research takes place in northern communities and focuses on land-based and holistic approaches to wellness.
A former youth worker, teacher, counsellor, and administrator, Dr. Lessard brings deep, lived experience to his work. He currently advises 14 First Nations communities on educational renewal and sovereignty, supporting learning from Pre-K through Adult Education.
